It has not even been 24 hours since we have been here and I think that we each miss some of the things that we take for granted back in the US. It's so easy for Jas and I to adjust, but try explaining to a 2 year old why things are different around the world and you get the blank stare. I told Mia that she had to go take a bath but once she saw that it was only a shower stall and no tub she didn't want to go. She actually said in a serious tone "momma we can go home now and I can take a bath". Since that is obviously not an option we had to give her a shower with her screaming the entire time. And we have how many more days of this? I just feel really bad because I know everything is a huge adjustment for her and she just misses her bath.
I also didn't mention that hot water is extremely limited. (I know my dad is laughing as he is reading this) So once she was done, Jas and I had to shower. Jas went first and while he was in there I could hear him making a lot of noise. When he came out I asked him what was going in in there and he said that his entire shower was cold. Great, we had to be out of the house in half hour so there was not enough time for the small water heater tank to refill and heat up. When I got into the bathroom I looked at all of the knobs and had no idea why there were so many and what they all did. (When we gave Mia her shower we filled up a huge bucket and used that water to rinse her so she really took what is called a balti bath, or bucket bath.) I had to have jas educate me in how to use the shower! Once I got in, the water was freezing, so I was done in record time! Yes, I really miss my shower too, but I will adjust.
And what does Jas miss the most? You probably guessed it....his Sunday football marathon.
But I guess this really makes you realize how lucky we are to have a hot bath, unlimited hot water and the Red Zone.
Its been a long day if adjustments, so time for a nap!
